Redeia and its business continuity and risk management model, based on the experience of the DANA in Valencia

Climate change presents increasingly complex challenges, with extreme weather events directly impacting our electrical infrastructure; this is why having proper management plans in place is essential.

Last year, Red Eléctrica addressed its crisis management model applied during the DANA that affected Valencia, where despite severe damage the transmission network maintained availability thanks to an immediate response and a high degree of grid meshing.

David Montero, Project Transformation Director at Red Eléctrica, highlighted at the II International Congress on Disaster Risk Management and Climate Change Adaptation, organized by ESAN University and the College of Engineers of Peru, the key elements of this response: the use of drones for inspection, environmental safety, and rapid temporary solutions.

His main message resonates with our mission: “Improvisation does not work in a crisis; training and tailored contingency plans are vital.”

This participation is part of the agreement between Redeia and ESAN University, which promotes specialized training and the exchange of experiences in sustainability, risk management, and climate change adaptation reinforcing both institutions’ commitment to tackling the challenges of the energy sector.

This global experience from Redeia is fundamental for us. As Redinter, we serve as the bridge to adapt these best European practices to the climate challenges of our region, strengthening our infrastructure and ensuring continuity of service.
